How to Protect Your Erection

As much as you have a love affair with your penis, it seems most of you go to great lengths to mess it up. Is your lifestyle harming your health? Did you know, that the first sign that your lifestyle is messing with your health is your sex life? At least that’s what Dr. Charles Walker from the Cardiovascular and Sexual Health clinic at Yale University is saying. If you have low testosterone, a less than ideal sex drive and trouble with ejaculation, according to Dr. Walker these are signs of high-risk behaviors. Sadly, this can turn into erectile dysfunction, which is some cases is irreversible.

erectile dysfunction effect on relationships

It seems now would be a good time to learn how to clean up your act and protect your erection.

  1. It’s time to leave work at work – Stress from work is a huge player in sexual dysfunction. This seems to be especially true once you reach your 40’s or 50’s and success equals stressful work. If you have one of those jobs that are constantly demanding of you and leaving you in an anxious state most of the time, then you need to learn how to leave your work at the office. If you are a workaholic, you likely are not getting enough exercise or sleep and you need to change that. The new rule needs to be no work at home!
  2. Clean out your medicine cabinet – Many of the cold and allergy medications on the market can cause erection issues. That’s because the active ingredients in these kinds of medications actually kill the hormone that leads to arousal. If you need these types of medications Dr. Harry Fisch, a professor in urology and reproductive medicine says to find formulas that do not contain Sudafed.
  3. Brush your teeth – A recent study done in 2012 discovered that men who had erectile dysfunction were 3 times as likely to have gum disease than those men who did not have penis issues. Another study done by The British Dental Health Foundation found that 4 out of 5 men with severe ED had gum disease. Therefore, you should be brushing and flossing regularly.
  4. Get to bed early – There is no prize for pulling an ‘almost all nighters.’ In fact, it could cause your sex life harm. Sleep is important and even just a few nights where you go to bed late can actually affect your erection according to University of Chicago researchers, who found that if you slept less than 5 hours testosterone levels dropped by 10%. In addition, the balance of hormones in your brain that are responsible for your erection are regulated by sleep. Ideally, you should get 7-8 hours of sleep but aim for at least 6.
  5. Watch how much you drink – If you have been drinking, it’s harder to get an erection. You need to work at it longer and you will still have softer results. A study in 2013 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that reformed alcoholics had a higher likelihood of erectile dysfunction than those who had never drank in excess. Sexual dysfunction is linked with heavy drinking so don’t be afraid to enjoy a drink, just watch your intake.
  6. Move your laptop off your lap – A laptop produces a great deal of heat and if it warms the testicles, it reduces your testosterone levels. So, keeping your laptop on your lap could lead to trouble with erections. Better to place it on a laptop table.
  7. Stop being unfaithful – If you are cheating it’s time to ditch your mistress. When you are unfaithful, there’s guilt and anxiety and that produces chemicals in your brain that interfere with erections. Pretty soon you won’t be performing for your mistress or your wife.
  8. Stop smoking – We all know that smoking is unhealthy but what some don’t realize is that there is link between erectile dysfunction and cigarettes. The lining of the blood vessels becomes damaged and this affects the penis’ smooth muscle inhibiting blood flow. When that happens your erection disappears or becomes more difficult to achieve.

There you have it – eight things you can do to protect your erection and your sexual health. There is one other thing you can do. Take an HGH supplement such as Genf20 Plus, along with a solid male enhancement product such as Vigrx Plus which will help with all kinds of aging related occurrences, libido and sexual function.
